By Bathing your Doberman Pinscher periodically

Bathing is one of the best ways to remove the extra dead fur or hair from the dog’s coat and it also helps to keep their body cool during hot summer days. Bathing also helps in cleansing of coat and removing fleas from your dog. You just have to select the best dog shampoo which suits his short coat by asking your Vet. Doberman Pinschers have a short-haired coat that didn’t get dirty easily, due to this they didn’t require to be bathed frequently.

How often should a Doberman Pinscher be bathed?

Due to their short-haired coat, they didn’t require much grooming, therefore, you should avoid bathing them too frequently. However, if your dog is engaged in outdoor activities or workouts and gets filthy easily then you can bathe him much often. Bathing your Doberman Pinscher once a month would be fine or you can also bathe your dog whenever you feel he’s got dirty.

Also, you should avoid Bathing your Doberman too frequently because it can cause harm to the coat of your dog. Overbathing can remove the natural oils from your dog’s hairs and can make your dog’s skin to become dry and flaky.

In my opinion the best shedding brush for the short-haired coat of Dobermans are Rubber curry and slicker brushes.

Usually, the Deshedding tools don’t work well on a short coat but it’s all up to you and you can use it on your Doberman.

By giving your Doberman healthy and nutritious food

A Dog’s diet is the main factor that determines the hair strength of your dog’s coat. The diet of Doberman should be rich in protein and all the essential vitamins like Vitamin A.  Though Vitamins are the important constituents in a dog’s diet still you should avoid feeding them Vitamin supplements. These types of supplements can affect your dog’s health negatively, therefore you should not feed your dog any supplement without suggesting your Vet.

You should also add fish oil or Cod liver oil in your dog’s diet, this could avoid high shedding as it helps in strengthening of hairs. Don’t forget to provide your Dog fresh and clean water all the time because sometimes dehydration may also be the reason of high or excessive shedding in Dobermans.

Note: If the shedding of your Doberman didn’t get to the normal level and continue to shed excessively then you must consult your Vet because high shedding can also be the symptom of any serious health problem.

Other causes which may be responsible for Excessive Shedding in Doberman Pinschers

  • Hormonal Changes– In some dogs Hormonal changes cause unnatural shedding.
  • Pregnancy– Some Female Dobermans shed more during or after pregnancy.
  • Food Allergy–  It also causes hair loss.
  • Skin Infections– Skin Infections caused by bacteria and fungi may be the reason.
  • Immune diseases– The dog with immune diseases sheds more.
  • Other Diseases or health problems- Health issues like Hypothyroidism causes excessive hair loss.
  • Fleas and mites– Fleas and Mites can cause problems. E.g- Hairloss during Demodex mange.
